You are fine wearing that hat without worrying about whether it is an “old man” hat. Just don’t wear it while driving 75km/hr on the freeway with your left turn signal permanently blinking.
I had that hat when I was four, so you could always assure her that it’s a toddler girl hat. Not that that will keep (or my toddler self, for that matter) from looking like an old man. They’re warm though, for sure. Happy IComLeaveWe!
My husband wore that style of hat in his twenties. Melted my heart. I loved it then and still do. I think they’re great. I also think “old men” are great. Especially the curmdugeonly ol’ duffers who don’t give a rat’s hiney what people think…of their hats or what’s under ‘em. All males, old and young wore them in the 30’s. Come see the Boys Town museum. They’re all over.
Here’s [top link] my hubbys current “old man” hat. It’s called a “tam” btw. Debonair, suave and downright sexy. Ever see the The Quiet Man? Good enough for John Wayne, good enough for Owen…me thinks.

Ah, drats, you’ve seen me on the 401 then. Bah, give me a bicycle (with fenders) any day of the week.
Embrace your old-man-liness! I think it’s great.
I will, I will. On your authority I may even do it today.
wishes all a good morning with this http://bit.ly/6t0crF my comic diary of the day http://plurk.com/p/2pkdd2
Tell your wife that the way men get to be old is to take care of themselves … the hat is meant to help you live to be old!
Smart. Hopefully she’ll read your comment.
Tres stylish. My hat is more like http://www.planet-sports.de/images/products/large/l_ipath_beanie_sanscrit_ski_hat_grey.jpg
I say wear what makes you happy and let the wife snicker (as long as it’s just a snicker)!
Mike, very artsy hat, dude.
I must say that when I see younger guys wearing hats that are traditionally worn by old men, I find it very attractive. Not sure what it is.
That’s what I said Kel, guys, ah-hem, way younger than me.

with or without ear flaps, they’re cool. Be not afraid.
Not old man at all. Very young and hip if worn with appropriate facial hair and the in the right pattern.
Amelia, may I quote you on that?
I wear a hat like that, O. I even let the flaps down when it’s cold. Hats are preeminently stylish, on men of any age.
